Today is St. Patrick’s Day so it’s guaranteed you’re seeing a lot of green everywhere. And green isn’t hard to spot here at Repêchage. We make our products with the best of the earth combined with the best of the sea, and often those ingredients are green! That got us thinking, what better time to celebrate our green ingredients than now? So, we’re going to take this opportunity to celebrate five of our favorite green skin care ingredients!
1. Seaweed
A core ingredient in all our products, seaweed is rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and trace elements. For centuries, people have turned to the sea for its renewing properties. Unlike plants on land, seaweed is grown without pesticides, not to mention our seaweed is sustainably harvested.
Seaweed is great for decreasing the appearance of oil, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, exfoliating the skin for a more luminous looking complexion and moisturizing the skin to make it feel and look soft and smooth.
2. Aloe Vera
This spiky plant can be found in many environments and is known for its long, gel-filled leaves. Used traditionally in skin care across many cultures, aloe contains over 200 substances, including 20 minerals, 20 amino acids, 12 vitamins, and enzymes, and is the perfect way hydrate dry skin. Reach for products containing aloe vera when you feel the dryness coming on.
3. Matcha Tea
Matcha Tea is great for keeping the complexion looking soft and flawless. Matcha is a special type of green tea grown in the shade, meaning the plant undergoes much less degradation than regular green tea and retains its potency for longer. Additionally, unlike green tea, the whole leaf of the Matcha plant is ground into a fine powder. Extract of unfermented tea is high in catechins and antioxidants.
4. Olive Oil & Olive Leaf Extracts
Certain ingredients stand the test of time, and olives, including olive leaf extract and olive oil, are one of them. A favorite in skin care since the ancient Greeks and biblical times, this fruit produces a non-comedogenic oil that softens and hydrates the skin. It is perfect for dry skin because the natural squalene helps to moisturize the skin.
5. Cucumber
Considered a spa staple, the cucumber has secured its spot in the skin care stratum. There’s a reason for the expression “cool as a cucumber”. Cucumber has long been utilized as a depuffing fix for tired looking eyes because of its cooling properties. Cold contracts while heat expands so the cooling effects are wonderful for skin when used in products like an eye cream.
Bring your skin good luck by adding these green ingredients into your skin care routine!
